Potassium chloride in drinking water

We have just purchased a water softener which uses potassium chloride to soften our very hard water. My husband & I are both on Prinivil to lower our blood pressure. It states on warning lable not to take potassium with it. Does anyone know if it is safe to drink our softened water.
