My nursing nutrition textbook(Anderson) says a small banana is 85
calories. About the same as a tablespoon of peanut butter.
But the most significant thing is that the banana, which has a high
glycemia index number, will be quickly absorbed and have an associated
insulin surge. Not so the peanut butter.
Kinda like a potato. 100 calories, very quickly absorbed, very quick
insulin response, driving those blood sugars into the tissue, where they
will...weight(8-) to be used. Or stored as fats. Not exactly the thing to
reduce blood pressure. True sea salt, with potassium, manganese,
magnesium, etc. would seem a more appropriate path to take.
