A medium banana is between 80 to 100 calories. My cereal with soya drink is
about 250. So the total is about 350, even 400 wouldn't be bad for
breakfast. I think too many people get into snacking with the wrong foods.
My parents complain about weight all the time, but they don't realize they
snack all day. I eat my meals - 4 of them - and that's it... no cookies, no
cracker snacks, no snippets of cheese and whatever in between. I have
friends that eat small meals, but never stop eating. They think they don't
eat much. I'm a big eater and I'm sure my rheumatoid arthritis requires it;
however, I'm 4' 11" and weigh 90 lbs. I think the sodium potassium balance
is important for everyone and it would probably be wise for people to begin
to eat more on the potassium side. Most of the processed foods are loaded
with sodium and people don't even realize that. So yes, I think people need
to lose weight, but I also think BP problems can be more a problem of high
sodium intake at fast food joints and from microwave pop-in dinners. I can't
stand frozen dinners and I usually detest eating out. I like making my own
food, even my tofu burgers... then I freeze them and heat them as needed. I
don't like the frozen Garden Burgers and other varieties they have. Once a
week I make a batch of about 15 burgers. I also make and freeze cashew
chili, spinach and beans, and vegetable soup. When you're in a hurry, it's
easy to take one of these out of the freezer and microwave it. I love being
in FL because I grow my own vegetables most of the year. I think people need
not only stop and smell the roses, but also take time for healthful food
preparation and eating.
