Even if a diagnosis is made, every effort really should be made to control blood pressure with dietary management first instead of medications.

Yes, this is an actual documented phenomenon. It is known as
"White Coat Syndrome". Because of this, you can look in most any
official guideline on how to diagnose high blood pressure and it will
tell you that an accurate diagnosis can only be made over a period of
three consecutive visits, NOT a once and done deal, which most medical
doctors are doing just so they can prescribe some medication. Even if
a diagnosis is made, every effort really should be made to control
blood pressure with dietary management first instead of medications.
On that note, keep in mind that it is normal for the blood
pressure to rise somewhat as one ages. A blood pressure of 160/90 may
actually be normal for a 70-year-old whereas a 20-year-old it is not.
Putting a 70-year-old with a normal blood pressure on medications
could result in them suffering from confusion, fainting spells, and
general weakness. This is something that Dr. Wolf, M.D. of Atlanta,
GA indentified as he experimentally took nursing home patients off
most all of the medications they were taking. It is no big secret to
note that IATROGENESIS is a big business in the U.S. today.
(IATROGENIC disease is the causing of one problem while trying to
solve another.)
