I was diagnosed with high blood pressure in my late 20s and began taking
medication then (I'm 41 now). When I first became pregnant, I was taking
Inderal LA, 80 mg. I took it through both pregnancies, continued while
nursing and only recently stopped taking it in February as my BP seems to
have come under control. It was my physician who suggested I stop taking it
BTW as my BP was consistently in the low range of normal when I was coming
in for something else. I know that it is *best* not to take prescribed
medication while pregnant or nursing, but when you have a chronic condition,
it is sometimes necessary. My children have shown no ill effects whatsoever
from this, although I did have a few pregnancy complications. Perhaps you
could call your LLL group and ask them for a list of safe BP meds. Or
consult a pharmicist. They are sometimes more knowledgeable regarding drug
precautions than doctors.
Good
luck to you.
